A level results 2026
We were delighted to celebrate another set of exceptional A Level results with our Year 13 students today. There has been a wonderful atmosphere across the school site as students gathered to collect their results, celebrate with peers and teachers, and confirm their next steps.
We are immensely proud of the resilience, commitment, and ambition shown by our Year 13 cohort over the last two years. Their impressive outcomes are a direct result of their sustained hard work, supported by the exceptional dedication of our staff and the ongoing support of our families and wider community.
Across a large and diverse cohort of over 300 students, our results demonstrate remarkable consistency, reflecting the quality of our curriculum delivery and the dedicated support provided by our teaching and support staff. 38.9% of all grades were awarded A*-A and a remarkable 68.9% of all grades awarded were A*-B. At The Cherwell School we are proud of the comprehensive nature of our intake and are therefore particularly delighted that nearly 90% of all entries achieved a grade C or higher.
The vast majority of our students are celebrating securing their first-choice post-18 destinations, demonstrating the rich variety of interests and ambitions within our Sixth Form. We are delighted to see our leavers stepping directly into dynamic careers, including students taking up highly competitive apprenticeships with Nestlé and in software development, as well as a former student who successfully retook A Levels to secure an apprenticeship in Formula 1. Some students are planning exciting gap years, such as working as a windsurfing instructor. Alongside these workplace pathways, many students are entering leading institutions globally, with leavers heading to Oxford, Cambridge, and the Ivy League University of Pennsylvania. Others are pursuing specialised fields, such as Ecology with an integrated year in industry at Aberystwyth University. Whatever their chosen route—whether higher education, high-profile apprenticeships, or specialised employment—we are immensely proud of our leavers and wish them every success in their next chapter.

GCSE results 2026
The school site was filled with energy, pride, and celebration on the 20th of August as our Year 11 students gathered to collect their GCSE and Level 2 results. Students opened their envelopes alongside friends, family, teachers, and support staff celebrating the culmination of their five-year secondary school journey and looking ahead to their next steps.
Completing Key Stage 4 requires sustained effort, personal maturity, and resilience, and we are thrilled to see our Year 11 cohort rewarded for their dedication. Across a comprehensive cohort of over 300 students, these outcomes highlight strong academic achievements right across the curriculum. Overall, our students achieved an Attainment 8 score of 59.34 (the National Average is 46.0), with 79% securing a Grade 4 or above in both English and Mathematics. 80% of all Year 11 students achieved 5 or more GCSEs at Grade 4 or above across their subjects. In line with our school commitment to an ambitious and inclusive education for every learner, we are particularly proud of our SEN students, who achieved an outstanding Attainment 8 score.
Today’s results reflect our students' hard work, the skilled guidance of our teaching and support staff, and the invaluable partnership we share with parents and carers.
The strong academic foundation established at Key Stage 4 opens up a wealth of opportunities for our leavers. We are excited to welcome a significant proportion of the year group back to The Cherwell School Sixth Form in September to begin their A Level courses. Equally, we are delighted to see many of our students taking up places at local FE colleges, entering specialised vocational training institutes, or starting structured apprenticeships across Oxfordshire.
